Oat groats are an excellent source of soluble fibre, Thiamin, Phosphorous, Zinc, Selenium, Vitamin E, and Iron. The soluble fibre lowers cholesterol by removing LDL (Bad cholesterol) while maintaining HDL (good cholesterol). The insoluble fibre absorbs water which helps to speed the passage of food through the bowels which helps reduce the risk of some bowel related diseases (e.g. colon cancer). Recommended Usage
Whole oat groats take about 45 mins to cook. Can be cooked and served as morning cereal or dessert, or prepared in the same manner as rice and used as a side dish, in salads, or as a stuffing.
