Pre-soaking it and rinsing it before consuming it will help to eliminate arsenic content.
Traditional way to cook organic Hijiki seaweed is to stew it in dashi stock. Flavour the stock with soy sauce and sugar, together with vegetables like carrot or lotus root, or fried tofu (aburaage). It’s neutral in taste and can be used in salads or stir fries. The seaweed needs to be soak for around an hour’s time. Make sure to rinse it before using. If you do not have much time to prepare, blanch it for a few minutes in boiling water.
As it can expand 5 times from its dried form, use only a serving of 1-2 tablespoons at most.
